Your consultation begins with a discussion of your symptoms, previous treatment, medical history and how the condition affects your activities.
This is followed by a clinical examination and review of relevant imaging such as X-rays, CT scans or MRI where required.
The diagnosis and available treatment options are then discussed. Depending on the condition, these may include observation, physiotherapy, medication, injections or surgery.
If surgery is being considered, the proposed procedure, alternatives, expected recovery, limitations and important risks are discussed before a treatment decision is made.
Treatment recommendations are individualised, and a consultation does not necessarily lead to surgery.
